ACR Member Advocacy Helps Increase Number of Cosponsors for HR 27474
June 3, 2023
As a result of American College of Radiology® (ACR®) member participation in Hill Day 2023, there has been an uptick in the number of cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives for ACR-supported H.R. 2474, the Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act. Review the list of H.R. 2474 cosponsors to see if your member of Congress has signed on; if not, reach out to your representative through the Radiology Advocacy Network Call to Action platform to sign on as a cosponsor.
During Hill Day, the California Radiological Society and the Radiological Society of Louisiana presented the ACR’s Congressional Award for Radiological Excellence (CARE) award to Rep. Raul Ruiz, MD. (D-Cal.) and Sen. Bill Cassidy, MD (R-La.) for their commitment to improving the delivery of quality healthcare in America.
There are many ways to become involved and stay involved throughout the year:
Site Visits: Only 19 of the 435 (4%) House members have a healthcare background. It is critical that we educate members of Congress about the essential role radiology plays in the healthcare system, and a site visit is a great way to expand their knowledge. Contact Ted Burnes, ACR Senior Director of Political Affairs, if interested in hosting a site visit with your representative.
